What to say.....

http://www.consumerfreedom.com/pressRelease_detail.cfm?release=195

No matter under what reason, I don't see this kind of anti-"anti animal abuse organization" activity do any help to the animals.
What is life?
What is morality?
To let the organization live or let the animals live?
It's really hard to choose..........

Why don't people try to do more and help, instead using this sadness choice as a weapon to fight with?

this is a war between fur lovers and anti fur patrons......
animals are nothing but victims.....

A site allow people create petition for specific topic, so I will probably use this site to create a petition and promote it in my animation.

Another PETA Campaign against animal tests.

http://marscandykills.com/#null
This site contains an online petition about telling Mars to drop animal tests. Also, they included a "thermometer" on this site in order to tell people that we need to do more by telling others.
This piece of reference could help because I'm planning to include a scene of promoting an online petition Campaign at the end of the animation.

karakul lamb fur

Do you know what is karakul lamb fur?

Fur of newborn, fetal karakul lambs.

"Because their unique, highly prized curly fur begins to unwind and straighten within three days of birth, many karakul lambs are slaughtered when they are only 1 or 2 days old."

The lamb mother's throat will be slitted and her stomach will be slashed open in order to let slaughters take out the fetal lamb.

  • Price of a “broadtail” fetus coats: $25,000USD
  • As many as 4 million karakul lambs are slaughtered for their fur every year.

What can you do about karakul lamb fur?
  • Don’t buy or wear ANY fur.
  • If you see karakul lamb fur for sale, write to the store owners or managers, let them know where it comes from, and urge them to pull it from the shelves.
  • If you read an article about karakul lamb fur in a newspaper or magazine, write a letter to the editor.

Will this fact turn any fur lovers' head back?
It definitely costs much more than $25,000USD for this bloody, heartless coat.

Pink the pop singer stand along with PETA

P!nk Pipes Up for PETA

“The Only Wildlife at Centro-Fly Is Human—No Fur Coats Allowed” declares red-hot singer P!nk on a poster promoting the cruelty-free dress code at the hip New York celebrity hangout. The singer, whose hits include “Get the Party Started” and “Don’t Let Me Get Me,” is tickled … well … pink at Centro-Fly’s no-fur policy and happily donated her time to sing the praises of a cause she believes in.

Each year, millions of animals are trapped, drowned, or beaten to death in the wild and gassed, strangled, or electrocuted on fur farms. Despite the fur trade’s attempts to revive the industry, sales remain half of what they were in the 1980s. Many designers, including Todd Oldham, and Stella McCartney, refuse to design with fur.

Centro-Fly’s dress code follows that of SPA, where manager Steve Lewis has directed his bouncers to turn away any fur-wearing club crawler (except for Steve’s dog, who often hangs out at the bar).

Beyoncé Gets Served on Fur

We’ve faxed polite letters to her, mailed her videos, and held lively rallies outside her concerts. We even ran a full-page open letter to her in Billboard magazine. The only thing that PETA hasn’t tried to do to reach Beyoncé about the suffering of animals killed for their fur is to have a frank discussion with her over dinner—until last week. A recent eBay auction offered fans a chance to have dinner with Beyoncé, and PETA—unbeknownst to Beyoncé—placed the winning bid, giving us an unusual opportunity to talk to her directly about the chinchillas who are electrocuted for their pelts and how other animals are gassed, strangled, or literally skinned alive before they are made into fur coats.

When Beyoncé’s car arrived to pick up her “fans,” they were whisked away to trendy New York City eatery, Nobu 57, where Beyoncé settled down for dinner and drinks along with her crew, her sister Solange, and her mother, Tina Knowles (who also happens to be the inspiration behind Beyoncé’s hideously furry fashion line).

After placing their orders, Beyoncé’s animal-loving dinner companions pelted her with questions such as “Beyoncé, many of your fans would like to know why you don’t care about how minks, foxes, and chinchillas are gassed, strangled, and electrocuted for vanity and if you might have it in your heart to recognize that fur is not only cheap and tacky but also horribly cruel?”

Before a stunned Beyoncé could react, the fur foe from PETA pulled out a portable DVD player and showed her Pamela Anderson’s exposé of the fur industry—complete with graphic video footage of animals who are trapped, drowned, and electrocuted for their pelts—and asked, “Beyoncé, your fans want you to do the right thing for animals who are skinned alive, beaten, and tortured for their fur, so if you won’t accept our DVD, will you please log onto FurIsDead.com to see the video footage that inspired people to write to PETA to help to get you to stop wearing animal skins?”

Beyoncé didn’t stick around for dessert, but PETA hopes that its message will stick—and that Destiny’s “Problem” Child will have a change of heart about fur.

Claims of fur seller

Australian Supermodel Imogen Bailey Says, "Hands off the buns!"

Sure, you’d probably never dream of wearing a coat made of 40 minks or a tacky coyote collar on your jacket. But could that trim on your cardigan, the tassles on your hat, even your cat’s toy mouse be made of—yikes!—the Easter bunny? Yes, it’s high time to lose ALL the fur!

People who live with rabbit companions in their homes know that they are sensitive, smart animals with individual personalities, just like the dogs and cats so many of us consider a part of the family. They make lifelong bonds with other rabbits and humans, they play with toys, and they can even learn to use litterboxes.

But the hundreds of millions of rabbits slaughtered for their fur and their flesh every year aren’t so lucky. Like other animals “farmed” for their fur, rabbits—who are extremely clean by nature—are kept in tiny, filthy cages, surrounded by their own waste. They spend their entire miserable lives standing on the thin cage wires, never having a chance to dig, jump, or play. The methods of slaughter are no more humane—they are killed by having their necks snapped or having their skulls beaten before being strung up by the legs and having their heads cut off.

Some stores justify the selling of rabbit fur by saying that it is “just a byproduct” of the rabbit-meat industry. But the rabbit fur industry demands the pelt of a thicker, older animal than those slaughtered for meat. In fact, the UN reports that “few skins are now retrieved from slaughterhouses,” and countries such as France are killing as many as 70 million rabbits a year for fur.

What’s more, there is a thriving, hideously cruel dog- and cat-fur industry in Asia, much of which is often falsely labeled as “rabbit fur” before export to Western markets. Without expensive DNA tests, it is virtually impossible to know exactly what kind of animal you are actually wearing if you choose to buy fur.

Angora rabbits, who are repeatedly shorn for their soft wool, don’t have it much better. They are strapped to a board for shearing, kicking powerfully in protest. The clippers inevitably bite into their flesh, with bloody results. Angoras have very delicate foot pads, making life on a wire cage floor excruciating and ulcerated feet a common condition. Because male angoras have

Ralph Lauren Goes Fur-Free!

Ralph Lauren Goes Fur-Free!

Ralph Lauren, long recognized as a leader in fashion, is now also a leader in compassion after announcing a precedent-setting decision to no longer use fur in any of his apparel or home collections, based purely on ethical grounds.

The Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation had been considering eliminating fur from its lines for some time and finally issued a statement making its decision to go fur-free official after a series of meetings with PETA during which executives viewed grisly undercover video footage of fur farms in China, where more than half the finished fur garments imported for sale in the United States are sourced. Shortly after meetings with PETA in February and March 2006, the company committed to pulling all fur from its shelves. “Fur has never been an integral part of our design strategy …,” said a Polo Ralph Lauren spokesperson. “We are publicly announcing this decision because the use of fur has been under review internally and we feel that the time is right to take this action.”

On fur farms in China, animals are confined to tiny wire cages through all weather extremes. Before they are skinned, workers bludgeon them with metal rods and slam them against the ground, breaking their bones but not always killing them. Many animals are skinned while they are still alive.

The Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation sent PETA a signed statement of assurance acknowledging its intent to pull all advertising for fur, cancel all pending orders for fur products, and beginning with its holiday 2006 collections, no longer sell any fur products. Twelve hundred of its brand-new fall 2006 fur-trimmed coats will be donated to charities in developing nations.

Ralph Lauren’s compassionate, progressive decision sends a powerful message to the clothing industry that torturing and killing rabbits, raccoons, foxes, and other animals for fashion won’t be tolerated.

Fact sheet from FurIsDead.com

Inside the Fur Industry: Animal Factories

Eighty-five percent of the fur industry’s skins come from animals living captive in fur factory farms.(1) These farms can hold thousands of animals, and their farming practices are remarkably uniform around the globe. As with other intensive-confinement animal farms, the methods used in fur factory farms are designed to maximize profits, always at the expense of the animals.

Painful and Short Lives
The most commonly farmed fur-bearing animals are minks, followed by foxes. Chinchillas, lynxes, and even hamsters are also farmed for their fur.(2) Seventy-three percent of fur farms are in Europe, 12 percent are in North America, and the rest are dispersed throughout the world, in countries such as Argentina, China, and Russia.(3) Mink farmers usually breed female minks once a year. There are about three or four surviving kittens in each litter, and they are killed when they are about 6 months old, depending on what country they are in, after the first hard freeze. Minks used for breeding are kept for four to five years.(4) The animals—who are housed in unbearably small cages—live with fear, stress, disease, parasites, and other physical and psychological hardships, all for the sake of an unnecessary global industry that makes billions of dollars annually.

Rabbits are slaughtered by the millions for meat, particularly in China, Italy, and Spain. Once considered a mere byproduct of this consumption, the rabbit-fur industry demands the thicker pelt of an older animal (rabbits raised for meat are killed at the age of 10 to 12 weeks).(5) The United Nations reports that countries such as France are killing as many as 70 million rabbits a year for fur, which is used in clothing, as lures in flyfishing, and for trim on craft items.(6)

Life on the ‘Ranch’
To cut costs, fur farmers pack animals into small cages, preventing them from taking more than a few steps back and forth. This crowding and confinement is especially distressing to minks—solitary animals who may occupy up to 2,500 acres of wetland habitat in the wild.(7) The anguish and frustration of life in a cage leads minks to self-mutilate—biting at their skin, tails, and feet—and frantically pace and circle endlessly. Zoologists at Oxford University who studied captive minks found that despite generations of being bred for fur, minks have not been domesticated and suffer greatly in captivity, especially if they are not given the opportunity to swim.(8) Foxes, raccoons, and other animals suffer just as much and have been found to cannibalize their cagemates in response to their crowded confinement.

Animals in fur factory farms are fed meat byproducts considered unfit for human consumption. Water is provided by a nipple system, which often freezes in the winter or might fail because of human error.

Poison and Pain
No federal humane slaughter law protects animals in fur factory farms, and killing methods are gruesome. Because fur farmers care only about preserving the quality of the fur, they use slaughter methods that keep the pelts intact but that can result in extreme suffering for the animals. Small animals may be crammed into boxes and poisoned with hot, unfiltered engine exhaust from a truck. Engine exhaust is not always lethal, and some animals wake up while they are being skinned. Larger animals have clamps attached to or rods forced into their mouths and rods are forced into their anuses, and they are painfully electrocuted. Other animals are poisoned with strychnine, which suffocates them by paralyzing their muscles with painful, rigid cramps. Gassing, decompression chambers, and neck-breaking are other common slaughter methods in fur factory farms.

The fur industry refuses to condemn even blatantly cruel killing methods. Genital electrocution—deemed “unacceptable” by the American Veterinary Medical Association in its “2000 Report of the AVMA Panel on Euthanasia”—causes animals to suffer from cardiac arrest while they are still conscious.(9) In 1994, Indiana became the first state to file criminal charges against a fur factory farm after PETA investigators documented genital electrocution at V-R Chinchillas. The chinchilla fur industry considers electrocution and neck-breaking “acceptable.”(10)

Would You Wear Your Dog?
When PETA conducted an undercover investigation into the dog and cat fur trade in 2005, investigators went to an animal market in Southern China and found that dogs and cats were languishing in tiny cages, visibly exhausted. Some had been on the road for days, transported in flimsy wire-mesh cages with no food or water. Animals were packed so tightly into cages that they could not move. Because of the cross-country transport in such deplorable conditions, our investigators saw dead cats on top of the cages, dying cats and dogs inside the cages, and cats and dogs with open wounds. Some animals were lethargic, and others were fighting with each other, driven insane from confinement and exposure. All of them were terrified.

Investigators reported that up to 8,000 animals were loaded onto each truck, with cages stacked on top of each other. Cages containing live animals were tossed from the tops of the trucks onto the ground 10 feet below, shattering the legs of the animals inside them. Many of the animals still had collars on, a sign that they were once someone’s beloved companions, stolen to be bludgeoned, hanged, bled to death, and strangled with wire nooses so that their fur can be turned into coats, trim, and trinkets.

Undercover investigators from Swiss Animal Protection/EAST International toured fur farms in China’s Hebei Province and found that foxes, minks, rabbits, and other animals were pacing and shivering in outdoor wire cages, exposed to everything from scorching sun to freezing temperatures to driving rain. Disease and injuries are widespread on these farms, and animals suffering from anxiety-induced psychosis chew on their own limbs and repeatedly throw themselves against the cage bars.

The globalization of the fur trade has made it impossible to know where fur products come from. Skins move through international auction houses and are purchased and distributed to manufacturers around the world, and finished goods are often exported. Even if a fur garment’s label says that it was made in a European country, the animals were likely raised and slaughtered elsewhere—possibly on an unregulated Chinese fur farm.

A "too sexy for leathers"

Are you a hip and humane trendsetter who knows the difference between pleather and pain? Are you passionate about puttin’on the pleather like Hollywood hotties and sexy songbirds Pamela Anderson, Alicia Silverstone, Shania Twain, P!nk, and Britney Spears?

Then show us some skin—your skin, that is! Everyone knows that there’s nothing sexy about slipping into slaughtered skin. If you’re too sexy for leather, then pour yourself into a pleather outfit, strike your most skintillating pose, and send us a sizzling snapshot!

We’re seeking “latex ladies” and “vinyl Valentinos” looking hot in pleather jackets, pants, boots, stilettos, and other oh-so-sexy leather-free apparel. Winners—one gal and one guy—will have their pics published in PETA’s Animal Times plus receive fabulous prizes from Lip Service!

(2000 Report of the AVMA Panel on Euthanasia)中就對此作出了譴責。

Cruella de Vil

http://www.dlrp.thedisneyfamily.com/entertainment/starringcruella.html

AntiFur_101 Dalmatians

Plot

Set in present-day London, Roger Dearly is an American designer of computer games who shares his home with his pet Dalmatian, Pongo. One day, Roger takes Pongo for a walk and the dog sets his eyes on a beautiful female Dalmatian named Perdy. Perdy likes Pongo as much as he likes her, and thankfully Perdy's owner, fashion designer Anita Campbell-Green, is quite taken with Roger. Romance blossoms between the human and canine couples, and Roger and Anita tie the knot. Anita works for Cruella de Vil, an intense fashion maven with a great love for fur.

Inspired by her dogs, Anita finds herself working up a design for a fur coat made with spotted fur, and Cruella leaps on the idea of making garments out of real Dalmatians. But where to get the animals? Cruella has two nasty but not especially intelligent henchmen, Jasper and Horace, who have been known to kill the odd endangered species at Madame’s request. Now they are sent on a mission to round up Dalmatians, and when they fall a bit short of their goal, it comes to Cruella's attention that Perdy has just given birth to a litter of 15 Dalmatian puppies. Hastily offering the couple a decent price for the newborn puppies, the couple refuses to take it. Flying into a maniacal rage, she fires Anita and vows to get even. She gets Jasper and Horace to steal the puppies, which are taken to Cruella's ancient estate, De Vil Manor, out in the country, where they should be waiting for a ruthless old man named Mr. Skinner, who works on taxidermy.

With the help of the other dogs and animals scattered throughout London, the puppies manage to outwit Jasper and Horace and escape to a farm, where their parents have been called to wait. But shortly after, Cruella de Vil shows up, and tries to retrieve them; she ends up getting her coat covered in molasses. The 101 Dalmatians manage to get home by the Metropolitan Police Service, who then arrest Miss de Vil and her henchmen and send them to prison.

AntiFur_PETAv.s.Cavalli's fashion show

MILAN (Reuters) - Five anti-fur protesters stormed Roberto Cavalli's flamboyant fashion show on Wednesday, unrolling posters saying "Cavalli = cruelty" on the catwalk before they were dragged away by security staff.

Cavalli's sports-themed show for his Just Cavalli label had opened with a live brass band dancing on a mock football pitch, followed by models in broad-shouldered cropped jackets and thigh-skimming dresses to a backdrop of electronic score boards.

Amid the colourful parade, it took security a while to realise the animal rights activists were not part of the show.

"Sadly there are always people who disturb those who work, what can I do? I could impose stricter security controls but I don't think that'll make a difference," Cavalli told reporters afterwards, adding that he loved animals.

The protesters belong to animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). Three of its members had also crashed the Burberry fashion show on Monday, shouting "Burberry fur shame".

PETA won notoriety in the fashion world in the 1990s with adverts of nude supermodels accompanied by the slogan "We'd rather go naked than wear fur".

But since then, fur has steadily crept back into fashion magazines and onto the catwalks.

"Cavalli is our target because he has described himself as an animal-lover but he has about every animal out there in his collection," PETA's Vice-President Dan Mathews told Reuters by phone. He was one of the protesters at the show.

Although no fur outfits have so far been modelled at Milan fashion week, which showcases spring-summer 2007 collections, Mathews said other collections by Cavalli featured fur.

Mathews said PETA representatives had also met with designers during the fashion week to show footage of fur farms and convince them not to use fur.

He attributed the revival of fur in fashion to trends such as the hip-hop "bling" style combining big fur coats with diamonds, as well as lobbying by fur producers.

Buyers at the fashion shows said the increased demand for fur was the result of a wider craving by consumers for luxury and exclusivity.

"It seems that customers are more and more interested in fur. It's considered a luxury fabric and the customer is interested in everything luxury at this time," said Gerald Barnes, senior vice-president at retailer Neiman Marcus Direct, before the Cavalli show.

AntiFur_IDAantiFurProtest

EVERY SATURDAY afternoon for the past few months, activists with In Defense of Animals (IDA) have convened on the sidewalk outside of Schumacher Fur Compnay at SW 9th and Morrison for an anti-fur demonstration. This past Saturday, the protest turned into a skirmish with the cops that resulted in two arrests.

Usually, the protests are subdued affairs: Activists hand out leaflets to passersby, or hold signs denouncing the fur industry.

More recently, Schumacher has fought back: A few weeks ago, signs in their windows announced a "protest sale"—all fur would be 50 percent off as long as activists were protesting.

This past Saturday, Schumacher's counter-protest became even more provocative. Digitally altered photos of the activists and their signs appeared on flyers in the store's window. One, featuring a sign that originally lambasted fur—with the slogan "Felony Animal Abuse: Beaten, Strangled, Skinned Alive, Anally Electrocuted"—now targeted the activists, saying "All Protesters Should Be Beaten, Strangled, Skinned Alive, Anally Electrocuted."

Owner Gregg Schumacher, reached by phone on Tuesday, March 7, declined to comment other than to say, "The only thing we talk about is how fashionable fur is. We don't talk about protests."

Activists say the cops stopped by the protest several times throughout Saturday afternoon. But just after 3 pm, when Portland Police Sergeant Larry Graham showed up, the protest turned ugly: "I witnessed [Graham] knocking into one group on purpose after he mistakenly thought someone had messed with his car," one woman wrote in a Portland Indymedia account. Graham threw one man against the police car, with the help of a Schumacher's security guard, before pulling him to the ground and arresting him. Eyewitnesses say the arrest was unnecessarily brutal, with Graham aggressively twisting the activist's arm—the activist wasn't resisting—as if to break it. Several more cops showed up, and another activist was arrested; both activists were charged with disorderly conduct, interfering, and resisting arrest.

The civil liberties watchdogs at Portland's Northwest Constitutional Rights Center are currently reviewing footage of the incident—the disturbing video backs up activists' accounts of the incident. (The police spokesperson says there were "absolutely no injuries" during the protests.)

"The Center is outraged at these events and is concerned that the level of violence displayed by Sgt. Graham may be the result of poor training, bad policies, and lack of citizen oversight," says Executive Director Alejandro Queral.

7 Things You Didn't Know About PETA

By ConsumerFreedom.com

Sunday, January 28, 2007

1) PETA president and co-founder Ingrid Newkirk has described her group's overall goal as "total animal liberation." This means no meat, no milk, no zoos, no circuses, no wool, no leather, no hunting, no fishing, and no pets (not even seeing-eye dogs). PETA is also against all medical research that requires the use of animals.

2) Despite its constant moralizing about the "unethical" treatment of animals by restaurant owners, grocers, farmers, scientists, anglers, and countless other Americans, PETA has killed over 14,400 dogs and cats at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. During 2005, PETA put to death over 90 percent of the animals it collected from members of the public.

3) PETA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent criminals. This includes a 2001 donation of $1,500 to the North American Earth Liberation Front (ELF), an FBI-certified "domestic terrorist" group responsible for dozens of firebombs and death threats. During the 1990s, PETA paid $70,200 to an Animal Liberation Front (ALF) activist convicted of burning down a Michigan State University research laboratory. In his sentencing recommendation, a federal prosecutor implicated PETA president Ingrid Newkirk in that crime. And PETA vegetarian campaign coordinator Bruce Friedrich told an animal rights convention in 2001 that "blowing stuff up and smashing windows" is "a great way to bring about animal liberation."

4) PETA activists regularly target children as young as six years old with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda, often waiting outside their schools to intercept them as they walk to and from class-without notifying parents. One piece of kid-targeted PETA literature tells small children: "Your Mommy Kills Animals!" PETA brags that its messages reach over 2 million children every year, including thousands reached by e-mail without the permission of their parents. One PETA vice president told the Fox News Channel's audience: "Our campaigns are always geared towards children, and they always will be."

5) PETA has used a related organization, the PETA Foundation, to fund the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a deceptive animal rights group that promotes itself as an unbiased source of medical and nutritional information. PCRM's president also serves as president of the PETA Foundation.

6) PETA runs campaigns seemingly calculated to offend religious believers. One entire PETA website is devoted to the claim-despite ample evidence to the contrary-that Jesus Christ was a vegetarian. PETA holds protests at houses of worship, even suing one church that tried to protect its members from Sunday-morning harassment. Its billboards taunt Christians with the message that hogs "died for their sins." PETA insists, contrary to centuries of rabbinical teaching, that the Jewish ritual of kosher slaughter shouldn't be allowed. And its infamous "Holocaust on Your Plate" campaign crassly compares the Jewish victims of Nazi genocide with farm animals.

7) PETA has repeatedly attacked research foundations like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, because they support animal-based research that might uncover cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases. PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has said that "even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it." ]

Eva Mendes—the gorgeous star of Training Day, Hitch, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Ghost Rider, and most recently the brilliant We Own the Night featuring Mark Wahlberg and our old friend Joaquin Phoenix—is also the new face of our winter anti-fur campaign. Once you’ve had a long look at this stunning new anti-fur ad, take a deep breath and check out what Eva had to say when she sat down with us for this PETA Files exclusive interview about what led her to speak out about the cruel treatment of animals in the fur industry:

How did you come to get involved with helping animals? Did you have any animal companions growing up?

I love animals, but I hadn't had a pet since I was a kid. I recently got a dog and he's not only made me a happier girl—he's made me much more sympathetic to animal rights. I look at my beautiful dog and think, "Of course I'd never eat him or skin him for his fur, so why would I be okay with eating a cow or wearing a cheetah?" It's just not right. It's a contradiction.

Do you have any animals? Can you tell us about them?

I recently got the most beautiful dog in the world! He's the sweetest thing ever. He's fully trained and all his commands are in French. Too cute! So I'm learning French and he's learning Spanish!

What drew you to the idea of working with PETA on our "Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" Campaign?

I wasn't familiar with PETA early in my career. I remember having my first premiere in New York City and being so naive that I didn't have a coat with me. My stylist sent me a fur wrap for the evening and I ignorantly wore it.

PETA then wrote me a beautiful letter commenting on my less-than-educated choice. I was so impressed that I vowed to them and myself to never wear real fur on the red carpet or in my life again.

As a fashion icon in Hollywood, do you find that people put pressure on you to wear fur on the red carpet? If so, how do you handle that?

A lot of the high-end designers are unfortunately still big on fur, but I simply let them know that I won't wear it on the red carpet or for photo shoots. People are pretty respectful and don't try to pressure me to wear fur (smart for them … haha).

.

Can you tell us about the projects you are working on right now and also about your film We Own The Night?

We Own The Night is a crime thriller set in the late 1980s about two brothers on opposite sides of the law. I play the girlfriend of Joaquin Phoenix, a manager for a club involved with the Russian Mafia, whose brother (played by Mark Wahlberg) is a cop targeting the Mafia for drug involvement. It's a great cast, and it was such a thrill to play opposite actors like Joaquin, Mark, and Robert Duvall. I've also just finished filming The Women, which was very cool, and I’m just starting a really amazing project called The Spirit.

What issue involving animals is dearest to your heart? Also, you have a lot of fans out there which gives you a powerful platform to reach people and make a difference: What is your message to them about having compassion and getting active to help animals?

I'd say the closest animal rights issue to me right now is being anti-fur. I feel like in recent years, due to pop culture, fur has made a comeback. Some people still see wearing fur as glamorous and a sign of prosperity. Personally I think wearing a baby chinchilla says, "I'm ignorant," vs. saying "I'm a badass." I don't think you can force people to change their attitudes, but you can help to educate them and to lead by example. … There are way too many amazing faux fur options out there for people to still be wearing real fur. I want people to know that there are options; that killing a poor animal and wearing it isn't cool. But respecting all life forms is cool. Very cool.

Apparently one main direction of PETA Campaign would be celebrity and nudity. By inviting celebrity for naked photos, PETA created a series of "I'd rather be naked than wearing fur". For some reason they think this kind of Campaign poster works and hopefully draw public attention.
